Hey guys, I know I've been largely inactive for the longest time now, but what can I say, I've been doing less of my own art to upload to this place and I've been finding more fulfilling social interaction through gaming and-- shockingly-- real life via college. That, plus I've recently stumbled onto Tumblr, which is so much better than Facebook that I wouldn't go on there at all if I didn't have a gaming group that I'm actually interested in improving in spite of myself.

Still, I don't want any undue concern, and I do appreciate the support over the years so I figure I'll at least clue you guys in on what I've been up to all this time as if they care no shut up, you, positive self image! people care what I think, all that crap Erherm, sorry about that, still working on that whole part, but I'm making progress.

ANYway, yeah, I'm getting into my next-to-last semester at college, and I think I'm starting to get the swing of it. That's at least one semester earlier than I caught ahold of High School, so I'm improving! I've got a real wacky schedule this year, but in return I've got nearly all the classes I want/need this time around! Painting class for art-major credits, looks pretty good.

As far as personal projects go, I think I'm gonna actually make some strong progress in fabricating this scrapyard armor I've been toying around with the idea of since before Freshman year, and I'm currently in the process of retrofitting a few of my Red vs Blue OCs for transfer into the RWBYverse. So far I've got Jaimeson set as the lead on a Beacon team comprised of him and three new characters made up to fill the rest of the roster. I've got weapons for all of them, but no names for the rest of them and no first name for Jaimeson to fit Monty's naming rules. I *do* however have the name of the team: JSPR ("jasper"), a type of rock that can be red, blue, green, yellow, or brown. So far I know that Jaimeson will be the J, and take up both the red and green slots, and P will be blue and probably have a name based off of perywinkle. S and R I don't know about, because while I know for certain what weapons the group will use, other than Jaimeson's I can't really see what colors they'd work best in. I might be uploading some of that material sometime in this semester. No outfits, either, but I've actually just started on what could be Jaimeson's top half, and I'm pretty sure that either Yellow or Brown will wind up wearing a duster.

Incidentally, if any of y'all know or can think of a word that starts with R and means, translates to, or makes you think of the color brown or yellow, I'd really appreciate it if you could throw me a bone.

Haello, my friends. I kome to you today to spread the wiisdom of de Broadcast!

For the past month I've been playing a game on the XBLA (also available on PC)called Iron Brigade (formerly known as Trenched) where you basically take a WWII-styled open-top mech with customized weapon specifications against the Monovision hordes, aided by turrets called in onto the battlefield using scrap dropped on enemy kills.

It's third-person combat crossed with tower defense, and it rocks! Also, it's made by Tim Schafer, so it's got a great pedigree on its side on top of all the badassery. If you guys like the sound of that, give it a shot! Besides, it's only 800 ms points, so it's pretty cheap!

Here's the XBLA trailer:

Oh, by the way, should any of you guys get really stuck on the late-game Volcano level, I've found that a really good loadout for that mission is the "Karlsson" body with an ICP and a MG turret, and armed with either two "Scythe" machineguns, a "Razor of the Gods" flak cannon and a "Mr. Pancakes" artillery piece, or a "Mr. Pancakes" with a "Fighting Wolverine" sniper cannon and a "Razor of the Gods" flak cannon. Don't worry if you don't have any of those by the time you get there, I looted about five of each in the course of trying to beat it.

I also picked up Battleblock Theater at the same time, which I have to say has a pretty steep difficulty curve by the time you hit world 7 or so. Great retro-feeling platforming fun with a variety of secondary gametypes for party play and a hi-larious voiced narrative, narrated by the one and only Stamper of Newgrounds fame.

Opening cinematic and intro gameplay:
Yeah. That is the only voice you will hear in the entire game, and he will remain pretty much the same the whole way through. You can however alter how much he squawks during gameplay in the options.

MAN I have not been productive lately.

Seriously, the entirety of my personal work for the past three months is a new weapon sketch I did in the past hour. I guess I just haven't been inspired enough by anything for a while. Anybody else ever have that problem?

I'll probably scan and upload the sketch after the semester starts and I have access to better computing software after I've polished it up and inked it.

In other news, I don't give two shits about the new console generation. The PS4 and the XB1 can both kiss my tush until all the early-adopters (let's call them "beta suckers," shall we?) get the bugs worked out of them so I don't have to deal with whatever replaces the RRoD in this cycle.

Hey, to all my friends with Freelancer OCs, I got an idea for a story prompt. Here goes:

Your Freelancer is dead. The final curtain. Dead as a doornail, as the phrase goes. Or maybe not, maybe they're just done with the whole deal, fed up with the war or just plain unable to go on. Whatever the case, your Freelancer is done. Dead, quit, it doesn't matter. They ain't a fighter any more. That's it. The final curtain. But what happened?

Was it fighting against impossible odds? Holding the line so their comrades could live another day? Dead or injured beyond repair, leaving them either mentally or physically broken?

Or did they succumb to the inner demons? Break a code of honor or just plain break under the stresses and torment of war?

I know how my own Agent Pennsylvania would go out, but if you could choose a way for your own to leave, what would it be?

Not necessarily personal canon, of course. This doesn't have to be how they go out "for real" if you ever do want to nail that door shut on their story.

To get an image out of my head!

"So you use that as a measure to unsee stuff?"

No, to bring it into the world.

In some cases it's that an idea for a really dynamic or exciting scene comes to me from gaming or movies or whatever and I put it to paper so that by drawing it I can experience the excitement, tension, or whatever emotion that the picture contains. This submission of mine fav.me/d4j4388 was done for that reason; I could've just looked at the scene pictured in my head far more accurately, with a full environment around it and a much larger scene to see, but in drawing it out I actually felt some of the excitement of the battle as my pencil went across the paper.

Other times, it's more to express or articulate an emotional intensity that I can't otherwise express and thus get out of my system. My Red vs Blue OC Jaimeson was concieved wholesale as a receptacle for my temper and everything I fear about it. To quote part of the Journal entry that I first announced him on here in: "...Unlike my other two (or perhaps only to a further extent) Jaimeson is more a part of myself, a projection of a certain facet of my personality: essentially, he *is* my temper, my explosive anger, and my fear of what I might do the next time my fury breaks loose of its constraints...." See, one day about a year ago I was really pissed off about something, but it hit just the right degree that I was mad enough to need to do something about it, but not so much that I was just left with a blind fury to take out on a tree (trust me, it works). So I sat down in the small grove of trees on my campus, opened my sketchbook, and began to just write about who this side of me was that I tried so hard to hide from everyone, and how that aspect of my self would be personified in the world of Red vs Blue (since I had recently created two characters in it already). And you know what, it really helped.

===============================================

That was my original answer to the question in the title when it was asked by another Deviant in a poll, and the reply to another Deviant's comment on my original response. It really helped me to analyze and wordify a bit about myself, and I thought I might wanna post that. Mostly so that I have it recorded, because, well why not? I find it helps to have self-reflection recorded somewhere anyway.

But anyways, thoughts people?
